Short summary : it was too hot to really run. I made it to the finish within the cutoff time of 8:00. The 50K was well organized, very low key, 120 participants, more organizers, very very hot day along the Tama river. More here, here and here. ...

Congratulations to all. The hot weather didn't prevent Namban runners to win again... I made it to the finish line just in time for the picture. Lucky !

50K in Hino City on May 10th, 2009

Short summary : it was too hot to really run. I made it to the finish within the cutoff time of 8:00.

The 50K was well organized, very low key, 120 participants, more organizers, very very hot day along the Tama river.

The loop has three out-and-back "spurs". The upper stream spur is between the 1st K and 9K with a turn at 5K, then we had the horse spur, from 16K to 22K with a turn at 19K at the pony farm, and then the "rice curry" spur, from 22K to 44K with a turn at 33K.

With a width of 5 t… Continue

Tokyo Marathon Report: PB 4:57'53" improved by 32'35"

Oh my god, I did it again. Third Marathon and third Tokyo marathon.

I finished below 5 hours as planned. Sugoi!

No injuries, great souvenirs, a lot of FUN. A lot of wind, specially in the face/side from Asakusa till arrival at Tokyo Big Sight.

So many souvenirs, such a great day, some great stories.

The first 10K are real mess as 10K and marathon runners are fighting for running space. We had sun on the way down to Shinagawa and back to Hibiya. I didn't take my sunglasses as rain was expecte… Continue

Chiba Marine Half Marathon

I participate to the Chiba Marine Half Marathon for the first time. It's a windy, popular and almost flat course. About 8000 runners took part in the Half Marathon. I'm training for Tokyo marathon and wanted to assess the results of the first two months of preparation. I had new PBs for 15k, 20k and half marathon by 24", 3'11 and 3"03. The wind woke up at 12k, a freezing reminder that we still in mid winter. A good day out there.

My splits (please be r… Continue

Odawara Houtoku 10K, Nov 2nd 2008

Sunday November 2nd, 2008. Sunny, no wind, great views of Fuji san.

Second race in Odawara and a great success. I had a PB at 10K, negative split and a PB for the 5K.

Five Namban runners (J., M., G., S. and Daniel S.) met at Odawara Houtoku 10k, a pleasant race with many views of Mt. Fuji, 90 minutes out of Shinjuku by Odakyu-Line train. We left in Shinjuku at 7:01 and arrived in Tomizu at 8:30. Reception was well organized and same day applications were gracefully accepted, even change of rac… Continue

Namban International Ladies Marathon

What a nice day for a race in mid November, even a little too hot. So much better than last year.

I was positioned at 5K and 37K, not far from Iidabashi station.

I saw the leaders running strong in 16:30 for the first 5K. Noguchi san leading a group of 6, with Shibui san and Kosgei. Just behind and running strong I saw 5 Namban ladies in black or yellow singlets. It was quite hot at noon.

After a pause at home, I came back to cheer on our runners at 37K just below th… Continue

I ran the 10k today, finished in 38:21, much better than last week, a good result considering the fact that I usually get up just 30min before this race started - so I was basically sleepwalking! I think I missed the podium by one position! Namba...
